
LIGHT FOR THE WORLD
SVĚTLO PRO SVĚT – Light for the World, o. s. is a non-governmental organization focusing on blindness prevention and treatment and systemic support of disabled persons in developing countries.
The association was established in the Czech Republic in August 2007 as a sister organization of NGOs confederated in the LIGHT FOR THE WORLD network, which has been successfully helping the visually impaired in the filed since 1988.
The LIGHT FOR THE WORLD Confederation is a prominent European organization supporting blind and visually or otherwise impaired persons inhabiting the poorest areas of our planet. LIGHT FOR THE WORLD was established in Vienna in 1988, and currently has sister organizations in Brussels, Prague and Veenendaal.
Through its partner organizations, LIGHT FOR THE WORLD works on 172 projects in 23 developing countries in Africa, Europe, Asia and South America. Africa is the main focus, with 103 projects being supported.
LIGHT FOR THE WORLD collaborates closely with the World Health Organization (WHO), the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB), the International Disability and Development Consortium (IDDC) and other NGOs and national governments.
SVĚTLO PRO SVĚT is an active member of FORS – Czech Development Cooperation Forum – a platform of NGOs participating in development cooperation and humanitarian help.
